Have you ever wondered how you would manage if phone services shut down for a day, a week or a month? We highly depend on our devices – some no longer wear a watch. Beside all the leisure services they provide, those devices are our main way to communicate. If there is an emergency, the first thing many would do is to pick up a phone to call for help. But what happens during or after a disaster when internet services are shut down? The emergency energy/ communication network consists of three main telecommunications networks that allow communication at three different scales (a building, the Mt. Baker neighborhood, and the City of Seattle). The three parts are the portable network kit, the mesh network, and the low power radio.
