The Mt. Baker Hub, or Town Center, includes and surrounds the Mt. Baker Light Rail Station. As part of the North Rainier Hub Urban Village, this area’s Accessible Mt. Baker project by Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) focuses on improved mobility and safety. The Town Center touches people and neighborhoods from Beacon Hill, Rainier Valley, and Mt. Baker. A diverse community, the neighborhood’s 2010 Neighborhood Plan Update included goals for this diversity to remain for residents and businesses, and for green practices and opportunities. The HUB Business Association is working to create economic development opportunities in the area and was a primary point of contact and source of resources for the class. This area also is designated as a Living Community through the International Living Future Institute (ILFI).
